What is being knocked down, and when?
September & October 2006 - The Rosebery Stand was knocked down
June 2007 to October 2007 - The remains of the Grandstand, the 1914 Building and the Coral Betting Shop were demolished.
September to November 2007 - The Old Paddock building was demolished
Summer 2008 (post Derby) - the old Number board on The Hill will be demolished
What is being built, and when?
The new Entrance Pavilion opened at The 2007 Derby Festival.
Construction started on the new Grandstand in October 2007 and will be completed in Spring 2009.
Construction started on the hotel in the autumn of 2007, and will be completed in September 2008
What racing will take place?
In 2009 we will hold a full racing programme, starting with the Spring Meeting on Weds, 22nd April and the return of Epsom Live! nights in July.
Will you still host summer evening music nights?
We will not be hosting our Epsom Live! nights until the new Grandstand opens in 2009.
Is the Queen's Stand still open?
Yes! The Queen's Stand is open for non racing events throughout the year, such as weddings, birthday parties, dinner dances, conferences, meetings, exhibitions and many other events.
Our Christmas party season will also be completely unaffected, and we'll be hosting Christmas parties throughout November, December and January.
What is happening to the Old Paddock and the Hotel?
Work has started on a 120 bed hotel in the old paddock.
The hotel will be an Express by Holiday Inn and it is due to open in September 2008
What facilities will there be in the new Grandstand?
The new Grandstand will have a capacity of 11,000 and will be a much more comfortable and modern development, that will be used for racing and other events throughout the year. Inside the ground floor will be the 1123sqm Oaks Hall, the first floor will have the Diomed, Lammtarra and Gallops Rooms which can seat up to 600 people for a dinner dance. The second floor will have fourteen private boxes and the stunning Downs View Suite for just over 100 people.
