CRISFORD HAPPY WITH GODOLPHIN DUO

Godolphin’s Racing Manager Simon Crisford expressed his satisfaction with the performances of Alexandros and Young Pretender, second and third respectively in the opening contest on Ladies Day, the Group Three Juddmonte Diomed Stakes over an extended mile.

Alexandros, the 100/30 favourite, finished half a length behind the winner Blythe Knight with Young Pretender a further length and three quarters back in third.

Simon Crisford said: “A mile or nine furlongs is Alexandros’ best trip and it will get easier for him as the season goes on. He has run well though.

“He is suited by soft ground, which he should hopefully get in the autumn.

“Young Pretender has also run a good race and he is another horse who should also should find things easier as the season progresses, when he will be running without a penalty.”
