Epsom Downs houses the third largest racehorse training facility in the country. The training grounds are managed by the Training Grounds Management Board and there are currently 12 trainers who use the fantastic facilities which include approximately 85 miles of grass gallops as well as 3 all weather tracks.
Although a historical training centre, Epsom Downs experienced a resurgence in 2009 when local trainers experienced one of their best years on record, winning £1million in prizemoney and more than 160 races between them, 12 of them here at their local track. The training centre has continued to flourish ever since with the number of horses in training here on average reaching 170 at any given month.
